POD Closing

POD CLOSURE INFORMATION

As of the 6th of May 2024, the POD will no longer be available to take prescription requests from patients of The Avenue Surgery. Prescription requests will need to be directed to the surgery for processing after this date.

Ways to request your prescription going forward are:

  • Via the NHS app which is free to download on all smartphones/ tablets (you can also use the NHS website if you do not have a smartphone/tablet). For information about the NHS App and to see a video showing how to order repeat prescriptions using the NHS app, please see the following links.

  • SystmOnline which can be accessed through our website (please note, you will need to contact the Surgery to be given an account to use this website) SystmOnline Login (tpp-uk.com)
  • Airmid App – to download the app please click on the following link: Airmid Cares
  • Paper requests – We will be re-introducing the prescriptions box, so you will be able to put prescription requests into this box, which will be located just inside the entrance of the Surgery. Please fill out a medicines request form, which will be located next to the box if you do not have a repeat slip.
  • Telephone requests – Please note, we will ONLY be accepting telephone requests from housebound patients who are unable to use all the above routes of requesting. This will be reviewed on a patient-by-patient basis.

Please note, if you currently use a different method of ordering prescriptions not listed above, you may continue to order in this way. It is only the POD that is closing.

Please ensure when you are requesting a prescription that you include the following information:

  • Full Name.
  • Date of Birth.
  • Adress/ Postcode.
  • Medication(s) required.
  • Preferred method of contact (just in case we need to contact you).

All medication requests will be processed by our surgery-based prescriptions team. Please remember that most prescriptions can be ordered up to two weeks before they are due, so please ensure that you order them in plenty of time. For routine repeat prescription requests, we aim to send prescriptions to your nominated pharmacy for dispensing within 3 working days of receiving your request. Please remember that the pharmacies also require time to dispense your prescription upon receiving them, which is why we recommend ordering 7-14 days before they are due.

We thank you for your patience during this transitional period.

Welcome to The Avenue Surgery in Warminster

Giving the best possible care for every patient

The Avenue Surgery is the home of the longest established medical practice in Warminster.

The surgery is a purpose built building with ten consultation rooms, several treatment rooms, and a nurses’ suite, built around a small courtyard.

Outside, there is a dedicated set-down area immediately next to the main entrance, for the less-able and disabled. There is also extensive parking nearby.

We also have a remote site at Station Road with five treatment rooms and administration areas on the first floor.

Access doors to both buildings have appropriate ramps, and are wide enough for wheelchairs.

Our staff are committed to providing quality healthcare for the benefit of all of our patients.

We offer on the day GP appointments. If you wish to speak to a specific GP, we advise you to call on a day the GP is available.

For more information, please visit our Appointments page.

We are not able to offer pre-bookable GP appointments so please ensure you are free to take a call or see a clinician on that day.

We are an Armed Forces veteran friendly accredited GP surgery.

This means that, as part of the health commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant, we have a dedicated clinician who has a specialist knowledge of military related health conditions and veteran specific health services. This is important in helping ex-forces to get the best care and treatment.

Be Kind

Here at the Avenue Surgery, we are working as hard as we can throughout these challenging times to offer you the very best service possible.

In return we ask you to show all our staff courtesy, kindness, and respect. There is no place for verbal or physical abuse, whether you are in the surgery or on the phone.

Anyone behaving in an unkind or disrespectful manner may receive a warning letter and recurrent instances can result in patients being asked to register elsewhere.

Thank you for your understanding, and continued support.
